Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Often more than one type of reach truck is needed in warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and could make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
