How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when utilizing a scissor lift, as the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the best alternative for performing jobs from heights.

The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.

So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machinery next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, in the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.

The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
